Replacement windows in an uptown New Orleans shotgun meant going with Spanish Cedar to the current owner… because to a previous owner window replacement meant going with aluminum.
However, while aluminum was the cheaper option and resists the elements well, it detracted from the house’s classic architectural appeal.
So the current owner contracted Central City Millworks to fabricate and install three arched-top operable windows and a matching entry door for the front porch while the home was being totally renovated. We used Spanish cedar for all of the wood because of its durability and excellent weathering properties.
